To parent is to take on a little universe. Parents are their child's guardian angels. To parent singlehandedly is superhuman. Taking on the job of the second guardian angel and tackling this wonderful little world on ones own is an impossible task. Single moms create miracles day after day taking care of their child alone. They work courageously and tirelessly to nurture a loving and secure human being to be a contribution to themselves and society. This without any added challenges other than plain parenting. The added challenge of doing so alone, the added challenge of negative judgements and lack of support requires extra muscle power to succeed for her child. I'm a single mom, but I credit this statement to my friends who became single moms before I did. Beautiful, strong parents. 4 arms and legs, 2 mouthpieces, twice the stamina and resilience, all in a single woman. That's courage. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I say it takes two parents and a village of support. One parent, a village of even stronger support. Emotional support, physical support and financial support are the lifeline to raise a child with the care and equipment necessary to do so. The former, emotional support is of utmost importance. It's what prevents anxiety and/or panic attacks. It can prevent a trigger to postpartum depression. Bais Chana created a village to help single moms raise their children by providing this support.
